Derek turned 5 on March 18 right in the middle of spring break! Every single day of spring break before his birthday, he would ask me if I had everything ready for his birthday. The other question was "Did you forget that my birthday is on Wednesday?" He is a funny kid. Stephen made him chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Then we invited a few nieghbor kids to go with us to the park for a picnic, and to play with his new bat and glove. Unfortunately, the weather turned cold and windy, so by the time we got to the park it was too windy to eat. Stephen found us a spot between two buildings and we hurried to eat! The cold was not going to stop these boys from playing baseball though! They played until it started to sprinkle! Later that night, Stephen and I took him (all by himself) to dinner and a movie (Bedtime stories!) He loved all of the attention!
